Twelve Registries Volunteer To Be PROW Demonstration SitesTwelve immunization programs and their registries have volunteered to be demonstration sites for implementing the PROW Standards of Excellence. The Programmatic Registry Operations Work Group’s (PROW) Standards of Excellence provide practical ways in which a registry can better support other core components of an immunization program, such as assessment, vaccine management, and provider quality assurance.
The demonstration sites represent a range of registry sizes and levels of development and include several organizations in which the registry is housed outside the immunization program. Most of the sites are interested in PROW as a way to enhance their already functional and deployed registry systems. The demonstration sites will document the process and outcome of reviewing the PROW Standards, as well as contribute new best practices to include in PROW. This will become part of a “Best Practices” Model Handbook that can be used by other immunization registry projects and immunization programs as they implement the Standards of Excellence. The sites have also agreed to share their stories at national conferences, in SnapShots, and other venues, as well as mentor subsequent projects that are implementing the Standards. An update on the progress and early results of the PROW demonstration sites will be presented at the October Immunization Registry Conference in Atlanta. PROW is a joint project of the AIRA, the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM), and the National Immunization Program.
