Celebrate Your Registry Successes!

A press event, celebration, contest…these are ways the CNY Immunization Registry has added some fun to its project and marked milestones along the way. The 500,000th shot entered into our Registry seemed a good reason to celebrate all the hard work that had gone into reaching this milestone, both by registry personnel and participating sites. A press conference, including cake, balloons and gifts for the child who received the shot and her mother added to the festivities. The two-foot Teddy bear presented to the child wore a T-shirt with our Registry logo. An occasion like this helped everyone appreciate that a press conference can be about important stuff and still be fun.

We often become so goal oriented that we forget to celebrate the successes along the way. Putting some fun into daily activities such as data entry makes everyone a little happier to do what's needed. The CNY Registry instituted a "Frequent User Card" for participating offices. If data is sent every month, the office receives a sticker for their card. When your card is filled in, the office gets a modest reward for all to enjoy, such as a bagel tray. A win-win for all-we get our data regularly and the office gets rewarded and there are good feelings created. And those good feelings go a long way towards promoting teamwork, cooperation and, ultimately, registry success.
