Oregon Registry Helps Kaiser Permanente Northwest
Comply with HIPAA Security Regulations
"With the new HIPAA regulations, there were concerns about
us sending files with patient data in them electronically that
were unencrypted. The State of Oregon ALERT people were wonderful
to work with on this. They did the research and found a free,
easy-to-use product recommended by the Centers for Disease Control
for patient data encryption. They helped us through the setup
and testing process. Now we are one of the few departments at
Kaiser encrypting patient data that we transfer electronically.
We're even getting ready to receive data back into our patients'
medical records about immunizations that our patients have had
at locations other than Kaiser. Great job and thanks for the
help!"
