AIRA President's Column
I am pleased to announce the formation of the AIRA Technical Committee. Barbara Canavan of Oregon, our AIRA President-Elect, will lead the committee, with assistance from Jeff Weihl of Michigan, AIRA Board Member and chair of the Committee on Immunization Registry Standards and Electronic Transactions (CIRSET). Broad and active participation of our members is urgently needed. Please email Barbara at barbara.c.canavan@state.or.us or the AIRA Executive Director, Cindy Sutliff, at csutliff@health.nyc.gov to indicate your interest in joining the committee.
If you have not been active in AIRA and are looking for a way to get involved, joining the Technical Committee is a great opportunity! Preliminary discussions of the focus of this committee are centering on the use of technology to support Immunization Program core functions such as assessment, coverage-level analysis, reminder-recall, vaccine management, and vaccine safety. The committee will also be working with All Kids Count/Center for Innovation in Health Information Systems on promoting integration of immunization registries with other child health information systems and public health information systems such as the Health Alert Network (HAN) and the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS).
