AIRA President's Column
Thanks to all of our members and supporters for helping to make our first set of AIRA-sponsored training workshops a success. Attendance and participation in each of the three pre-Registry Conference workshops--Web Enablement, Advocacy, and Integrating Systems, far exceeded our expectations. The workshop evaluation forms indicated that the vast majority of participants learned new ideas and/or skills. The strong turnout and response to these workshops signals the need for more training opportunities.
AIRA will send out a survey soon to get your ideas on topics for trainings. Please be on the lookout for the survey and, in the meantime, send your thoughts directly to me at ametroka@health.nyc.gov. You will also be getting notices soon inviting you to join our new Technical Committee, to be chaired by Brian Wheeler (email: wheeler@adph. state.al.us), as well as a workgroup on issues confronting City/Urban Area Registries, to be chaired by Julie Gleason-Comstock of Detroit (email: julie.gleason-comstock@healthline. localhealth.net). I encourage you to contact Brian or Julie directly to express your interest and ideas. Our goal is to engage the active participation of all of our members. So, let's hear from you how we can involve you in AIRA!
