July SnapShots: California Non-profit Funded to Help Local Physicians Link to Regional RegistryIn early 2001, the San Joaquin Valley Health Consortium, headquartered in Fresno, California, applied for and received 1.2 million dollars from the Children and Families Commission to provide physicians with the means to connect to the Central Valley's regional registry. The Childhood Immunization Registry Partnership (ChIRP) is facilitating these linkages by providing the necessary computer equipment, Internet linkages, data entry, technical assistance and training to Fresno County immunization providers who participate in the registry. Over three years, ChIRP will recruit and equip 180 Fresno County immunization providers for participation in the registry.
