AIRA President's ColumnThe AIRA officers, board, and partner organizations will be meeting again face-to-face with CDC at the Registry Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. We will continue exploring opportunities for collaboration to further the development of immunization registries across the U.S. One potential area of collaboration that is gaining interest is to promote the use of registries to assist in the management of Immunization Program core functions. CDC, AIRA and other partners would look into developing standards for registries to support vaccine management, provider quality assurance, service delivery, consumer information, surveillance, and population assessment. The AIRA officers and board would like to hear from registry staff about this idea, particularly from those registry people who are already assisting Immunization Program managers with specific program components. Please email me directly @ ametroka@health.nyc.gov. Please, also, come if you can to the AIRA annual meeting on July 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the conference hotel to give voice to your ideas and share your experience with your colleagues around the country. Hope to see you in Little Rock! -- Amy Metroka, AIRA President |
