Direct Onboarding Assistance

Community surveys and stakeholder feedback indicates wide variability among jurisdictional onboarding approaches. This variability can lead to a backlog for establishing EHR-IIS interfaces as well as create lengthy wait times. All of these contribute to frustration with the onboarding process and can negatively impact the timeliness of vaccination reporting to IIS.

The Onboarding Shared Services (OSS) program provides technical assistance to support IIS in provider onboarding for immunization data exchange. This support is intended for jurisdictions that have a queue of providers waiting to onboard and is designed to provide short-term relief to help those jurisdictions work through that backlog. Through this effort the program strives to standardize the onboarding approach across jurisdictions, reduce the backlog of providers waiting to onboard, and accelerate the ability of IIS to onboard providers efficiently and effectively.

Direct onboarding assistance may include consultation and/or staff augmentation to:

  • Support provider site enrollment/registration/forms completion
  • Support provider self-service pre-testing using National Institute of Standards and Technology tools
  • Facilitate connectivity between provider EHR and IIS test/production systems
  • Support HL7 message validation and testing
  • Support data quality review

Note: Services are contingent on AIRA capacity as well as AIRA's access to IIS functionality, tools, reports, and other items, as needed, to provide the intended support.
