The American Immunization Registry Association, AIRA (pronounced “air-uh”) for short, is here to get you connected and engaged with the vibrant IIS community. AIRA supports and promotes the development, implementation, and interoperability of IIS through partnerships, peer and professional education/training, and resource development.

New to IIS

Immunization information systems (IIS), also called immunization registries, are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. They’re the most powerful tool for managing immunization records and supporting healthier communities.

Technical Assistance Training Videos

For those new to IIS, you’ve likely heard tons of acronyms, such as SOAP (that’s not used for washing dishes) and AART (that has little—okay, nothing—to do with painting). AIRA has developed several brief (3–9 minute) Technical Assistance Training Videos designed to help new staff learn about technical aspects of IIS.
