About the Immunization Integration Program Team

Senior Management AIRA’s Immunization Integration Program (IIP) Team partners with HIMSS, CDC, and other stakeholders to assure clinicians and immunization information systems have timely access to complete and accurate immunization data to improve clinical decision making and management, increase vaccination coverage, and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases. The team achieves its goals via the IIP Testing and Recognition Program and the IIP Collaborative.

Immunization Integration Program Team

Melissa McClung, Director of the Immunization Integration Program

Melissa McClung joined AIRA in December 2020 as Director of the Immunization Integration Program. Her background includes 5 years in software development followed by 20 years at Denver Public Health where her work focused on applying innovative technology to public health. As an epidemiologist and project manager, Melissa led the development and management of a mobile technology solution used to support public health preparedness activities, including mass vaccination and prophylaxis. Melissa was also the project manager for a closed-loop electronic referral project working to establish clinical-community linkages. 


Damon Ferlazzo, Business Analyst

Damon Ferlazzo joined AIRA as a business analyst in September 2020. His primary focus is the Immunization Integration Program. Prior to this role, Damon worked for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) for seven years. Damon started as the Missouri ShowMeVax IIS Manager, moved to the Data Quality Manager position, then served as the Interim Chief for the Bureau of Reportable Disease Informatics. He finished his career at DHSS as the Deputy Administrator for the Section for Disease Prevention. Prior to his work in public health, Damon worked with longitudinal education-workforce data systems as a research analyst for the Missouri Department of Higher Education.


Yaasmeen Daud, Assistant Project Manager

Yaasmeen Daud is an assistant project manager for the Immunization Integration Program (IIP) Team. She joined AIRA in December 2020. Yaasmeen has a master's degree in health informatics from the University of Cincinnati and over nine years of experience working with electronic health records, such as Epic. She will be responsible for operationalizing components of the IIP by updating project management plans, documenting project activities and progress, coordinating virtual meetings, and providing other administrative support as needed. 


Wintana Bairu, Evaluation Specialist (Consultant)

Wintana Bairu joined AIRA as an evaluation specialist in December 2020 on the Immunization Integration Program Team. Wintana has a broad range of programmatic experience having conducted evaluation of national programs, health security planning, and managing health professional conferences for the World Health Organization, Ministry of Health, and pharmaceutical regulatory agencies since 2013. Prior to AIRA, Wintana was an operations consultant for Bairex Health Education & Research Institute, providing timely COVID-19 needs assessments and training programs.
