New HL7 Patient-Matching Reports Released in AART

In July 2023, AIRA, CDC, and MACAW (the Measurement for Assessment and Certification Advisory Workgroup) launched a new measurable concept, HL7 Patient Matching, into the Testing and Discovery phase of the Measurement and Improvement (M&I) initiative. Patient matching is the process of identifying and linking a patient’s data across different health systems to create a comprehensive view of that person’s health care record. Initial reports were released in AART for participating IIS to view and assess alignment with MACAW-informed measures and tests for this area.

AIRA has worked with MACAW to improve the test cases since the initial first round of testing in July and is in the process of releasing the second round of Testing and Discovery reports in AART. Although the second report has the same measures as the first report, it should not be directly compared to your previous report, as some test cases have changed.

As part of M&I’s continuous improvement efforts, IIS staff are strongly encouraged to review their reports in AART and provide feedback on the methodology, preliminary data, test case scenarios, and/or test case expectations. Please send feedback to [email protected] or submit a technical assistance form.
